My word mark is written in a unique font. Why doesn't this matter?

The specific font you use with your brand doesn’t matter when registering a wordmark because a wordmark is assessed on the distinctiveness of the text, not its visual presentation. So, the examiner evaluates whether the words themselves are capable of identifying a single commercial source, and the typeface doesn’t play any role in that assessment.

This also means the font is not protected by the wordmark registration. If you want to protect the visual appearance of the name in that specific font, you need to register a figurative mark showing the stylized version.
