Does the EUIPO notify owners of registered trademarks in the different EU countries about similar applications?

The EUIPO notifies owners of registered EU trademarks when the examiner identifies a potential conflict during examination. It does not notify holders of national trademarks in individual member states.

National trademark holders who wish to protect against conflicting EU applications must monitor the EUIPO's register themselves and file an opposition during the three-month publication window if a conflicting application appears. EUIPO notifications to EU trademark holders are a useful supplement to monitoring, but should not be relied upon as the sole method; the responsibility for active monitoring rests with the trademark owner.
